VSATs have enabled a whole host of satellite services, including Outside Broadcast, as well as in military scenarios for comms on the move. They are extremely quick to install and are also inexpensive. Equipment quality and accuracy of the installation is paramount to ensuring that VSATs are operated correctly and do not impact the services of others. Antenna misalignment and faulty hardware may easily lead to both cross polarization or adjacent satellite interference (ASI). SIG’s members have launched a number of useful tools to maintain the accuracy of VSATs, including SatGuardfrom Kratos, and Satmotion Pocketfrom Integrasys.
